Blurt Blockchain: Was July hot?

Dear Blurtians,

It's time for our monthly Blurt blockchain analysis session! Was July hot, lukewarm, or something else? That's what we're going to explore in this new analysis, filled with numbers and graphs. No need to worry, as usual, I'll do my best to make it easy to understand, and this month, you'll even get a few new additions!

As usual, we will make a 4-month comparison with the months of July, June, May, and April 2023.

In July 2023, the block producers, who are also known as "witnesses" on the Blurt blockchain, had the responsibility of generating 877,318 blocks.

The witnesses are elected by the community through voting so you can show your support by casting your vote at https://beblurt.com/witnesses to give a better ranking to your favorite witness(es) 😉

Witnesses votes

Same as last month, we'll take this opportunity to talk about witnesses. How many of you cast a governance vote for your favorite witness(es) last month? 🤔

image

Thank you to those who followed my advice from last month and contributed to an increase in witnesses votes in July. I hope to see further progress next month 😊 For those who don't understand what a Witness of the Blurt Blockchain is or what responsibilities a Witness has, I invite you to read my post One Year as a Witness: A BLURT Block Producer's Journey 😉

Proposals

As we talking governance operations, maybe you will be interested by the payments made by the Blurt Decentralized Fund to the proposals.

What is the The Blurt Decentralized Fund (BDF)
The Blurt Decentralized Fund (BDF) is a community-driven decentralized finance platform that operates on the Blurt blockchain. The BDF was created to provide financial support to Blurt ecosystem projects that contribute to the growth and development of the platform. The BDF operates through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that allows stakeholders to collectively make decisions on funding proposals. Anyone can submit a proposal for funding, and the community votes to determine which proposals will receive funding. Proposals can range from technical development to marketing and community building initiatives, and are subject to community review and approval before funding is allocated.

Fund Balance: 1,139,952.223 BLURT
Daily budget: 11,399.522 BLURT
Daily Payments: 11,399.522 BLURT
Proposals list: https://beblurt.com/proposals

image

Just like with the Witnesses, I encourage you to read each proposal and support the ones you choose with your vote to help the proposer secure funding. You can read the proposals on BeBlurt here: https://beblurt.com/proposals or blurtwallet there: https://blurtwallet.com/proposals

Transactions & Operations

In July 2023, the witnesses' blocks recorded 212,884 transactions and 217,630 operations (with one transaction potentially containing multiple operations).

image

The number of operations as well as the number of transactions experienced a very slight increase last month, putting an end to the downward trend of the previous months.

New Accounts

Let's take a look at the number of new accounts created which is a good and interesting indicator.

image

July can't be considered an excellent month for onboarding new accounts to the Blurt blockchain. Perhaps, a summer phenomenon, with many being on vacation. Now that the Blurt blockchain has its own TESTNET, as mentioned in my last post Blurt Blockchain TESTNET with Nexus, we can work on an onboarding system with an affiliate link to boost this variable :)

Active Accounts

So, is account activity following this trend? That's what we'll see in the next graph, which tracks all account activity on the Blurt blockchain. Any user who interacts with the blockchain through a non-virtual operation (vote, transfer, delegation, comment, post...) during the period is considered an active account.

image

And yes, with about fifty fewer accounts who didn't visit Blurt in July!

Distinct Authors

What about the number of unique authors on the Blurt blockchain?

image

No big changes here, just a difference of 10 authors less. I'm really curious to see what September, and therefore the end of the summer vacations, will bring!

Posts & Replies

With all this, what about publications and comments.

image

As for June the number of comments on posts is up and even exceeds the number of posts themselves. For the number of posts by itself it's as for the number of authors it's a little bit less with less than 50 posts difference.

Communities Posts & Authors

As Blurt Communities are starting to grow, with 19 Blurt Communities created as of today.

image

I think it's time to dedicate a graph to track their progress.

image

Started from 1 in April to 207 posts published in a Blurt Community in July 🚀

image

Started from 1 in April to 38 authors publishing in Blurt Communities in July 🚀

If you're interested in learning more about Blurt communities in general, and why not create your own Blurt Community, I invite you to read this post: COMMUNITIES Have Arrived on the Blurt Blockchain

Frontends / dApps

And how the posts are distributed by Frontends / dApps, that's what we will see below.

image

While the Blurt Blog, Actifit, and Dtube frontends continue on a downward trend, Blurtlatam is still on an upward trend, as is BeBlurt, where publications in communities are starting to grow, as is the number of communities created! More info in this post: BeBlurt Supports Blurt Communities

I realize that this variable alone isn't enough to properly define the popularity of a frontend, so I've decided to add a new graph representing the share of authors for each frontend.

image

Happy to see BeBlurt's percentage increase from 3.1% in May to 5.5% in July, a growth of 77% in 3 months, even though I haven't started any external onboarding campaigns yet. 🎉

Now let's see what's happening on the financial side

Authors Rewards

How much did content creators earn in rewards last month? We'll soon find out.

image

We saw a nice spike in authors' rewards this month, with an increase of more than 50,000 BLURT compared to last month. Is this a sign of more upvotes or more BLURT being put in vesting?

July Top 10 authors (in rewards) are:

  • 22,616 BLURT : @hangin with 129 posts & replies
  • 19,762 BLURT : @cleanenergygarro with 108 posts & replies
  • 16,627 BLURT : @offgridlife with 174 posts & replies
  • 15,487 BLURT : @andrianna with 78 posts & replies
  • 15,264 BLURT : @yakubenko with 76 posts & replies
  • 15,121 BLURT : @rubelynmacion with 295 posts & replies (up 3 positions)
  • 13,828 BLURT : @kryptodenno with 31 posts & replies (up 4 positions)
  • 13,480 BLURT : @cjsdns with 32 posts & replies
  • 12,511 BLURT : @oneray with 131 posts & replies (up +100 positions)
  • 11,905 BLURT : @powerego with 38 posts & replies

I would also like to remind you that on BeBlurt, you can find this information on the user dashboard as explained in this post: BEBLURT | Update v0.3.0 | Blurtian Analytics Dashboard

Curators Rewards

A graph similar as usual.

image

July Top 10 curators (in rewards) are:

@beblurt consolidates its 9th place with 23,230 BLURT distributed to Blurt authors through 961 manual upvotes from the BeBlurt Curation team this month, which is 5,239 more BLURT than last month! 🎉

Thanks to all the delegators of the BeBlurt's MyDelegation program it's now 3,200,000 BLURT POWER dedicated to manual curation 🎊

If you'd like to join the BeBlurt Delegation program and help us distribute even more rewards next month via 100% manual curation, I invite you to read this post: BeBlurt's MyDelegation program with 85% Rewards Back.

Beneficiaries Rewards

The Beneficiary Rewards on the Blurt blockchain refer to a system where a portion of the rewards generated from a post or comment on the platform is allocated to a designated beneficiary account. This beneficiary account can be any account on the Blurt blockchain that the author of the post or comment chooses to support.

When a user creates content on Blurt, they have the option to designate a beneficiary account and set a percentage of the rewards that they would like to allocate to that account. The beneficiary account can be any Blurt account (their own account, another user, community, dApp/frontend)

Once the post or comment is published, the rewards are distributed among the author and any designated beneficiaries according to the percentage set by the author. This allows authors to support other users, communities, or dApp/frontend they believe deserve recognition and rewards for their contributions to the platform.

The Beneficiary Rewards system is intended to encourage engagement and collaboration among users on the Blurt blockchain and to foster a culture of generosity and support. It is also a way for authors to demonstrate their appreciation for the work of others on the platform.

FYI: On BeBlurt, posting in a Community will automatically add a 3% beneficiary to the Community owner's account as a contribution to its growth (you have the option to add more % if you wish but cannot remove it).

Power Up / Down

This month came back as before where Power Up exceeding Power Down with 2,260,387 BLURT powered UP against 2,053,759 BLURT withdrawn from vesting representing a difference of more than 200,000 BLURT.

image

July Top 10 Power Up are:

@beblurt still here this month at the 5th place 🎊 Congrats @allaboutph for your nice Power UP 🎉

Before listing the Top 10 Power Downs, a little clarification, doing a power down does not necessarily mean selling your BLURTs but simply putting them in liquidity ;)

July Top 10 Power Downs are:

Transfer from & to Exchanges

As a reminder: Only [Probit is recognized as an exchange for BLURT by CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap and only the values of this exchange determine the value and volume of exchange on these 2 major websites of the crypto world!

To Exchanges

July Top 5 Accounts transfers to Exchanges are:

From Exchanges

image

June Top 5 Exchanges transfers to Accounts are:

Once again, @beblurt is present in a Top with a fine 4th place

Delta from/to Exchanges

As usual Hive-Engine is negative, and this month for 1 million BLURT, as well as Robinia with -700,000 BLURT. Only Ionomy and Probit are positive. The delta for this month is -969,875 BLURT which is 410,000 better than last month (-1,380,678 BLURT).

Conclusion

In conclusion, our journey through the Blurt blockchain data for the month of July has revealed several insights into the platform's dynamics. As we delved into various aspects of the ecosystem, from witness activity to community engagement, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the state of Blurt.

Witnesses, the backbone of the Blurt blockchain, diligently produced 877,318 blocks during July 2023, highlighting their pivotal role in maintaining the network's integrity. Your support by voting for witnesses on https://beblurt.com/witnesses contributes to this crucial aspect of the Blurt ecosystem.

The statistics surrounding transactions, operations, new accounts, and active accounts revealed intriguing trends. While some areas experienced slight fluctuations, the overall trajectory suggests a stabilization and potential growth. New account creation might have seen a dip, possibly influenced by seasonal factors, but the introduction of the Blurt blockchain TESTNET and future initiatives hold the promise of enhancing this metric.

The performance of Blurt Communities is an encouraging highlight, with notable growth in both posts and authors. The emergence of these communities underscores Blurt's potential as a diverse and dynamic social platform 😊

The July analysis reflects a platform with a resilient community, marked by diverse activities, ongoing developments, and a commitment to fostering growth. As Blurt continues to evolve, these insights provide valuable perspectives on its journey and potential future trajectories.

That's why if I were you, I'd click on the @nalexadre Follow button to make sure I don't miss the next analysis 🤣

Thank you for the recognition :) my support for blurt is 100%. Looking forward for a bright future for blurt and for all of us here.

How very sad to see activity trending downward as 2023 progresses!

Also, very disappointing to see people who destroy the blockchain and steal from the rest of the community on the list of top creators. Buying votes should never be rewarded with placement on such lists, or with support from other users, or anything but scorn and disdain. People like offgridlife are leeches that ruin the experience for everyone else, and yet continue to act against us. Most people don't know what's going on, and if they know they think someone else will take care of the problem. Speaking out against this abuse is how I do my part. Anyone who isn't at least speaking out against this is part of the problem because they allow corruption and theft to continue.

Also, I notice that only 1 of the top 10 curators is an actual person! Everything else is a bot. Not a good look for Blurt. : (

Thank you for the data!

The main objective of this monthly analysis post of the Blurt blockchain data is to provide an overview of the blockchain's figures, making them accessible to everyone, as these statistics are often not easily available. The Blurt blockchain (similar to Steem and Hive) lacks comprehensive internal analysis tools, only offering general information such as "chain properties," "global dynamic properties," or "get config." I'm not certain that omitting specific names and concealing this phenomenon is the right approach, just as I am not a proponent of passing judgment on individual positions. I prefer to receive comments like yours that spark interesting discussions, which everyone can read and participate after reviewing the post.

The problem when implementing something is that there will always be individuals who divert it from its original purpose. On the Blurt blockchain, this pertains to the curation and delegation system, but it's not unique to Blurt or blockchains; it's something encountered everywhere. This is typically where an endless cycle begins, where you try to restore things to their intended state, sometimes making sacrifices to functionalities that were meant to assist. What could be the solution on Blurt? Removing the delegation system to prevent this kind of practice? However, that would also penalize those who use it to support a community. I don't believe there's an easy answer to this issue, the abuse of the delegation and curation system by "UPVU" is a real problem and we're fighting against 2 major weaknesses of many people, the lure of profit and individualism whatever the cost or harm to others.

I find your assessment of the top 10 curators rather harsh. I personally know two individuals from the list, and while they may not be engaging in 100% manual curation, a significant portion of their curation involves genuine human effort, reading posts daily. As for the others, I can't deny your observation.

These are excellent stats. Incredibly informative. I do hope it's holiday season that has led to the dip in activity

Reading this article represented many light years of knowledge for me.

I am very happy to be part of the team and help in some way, and at the same time have the opportunity to learn from someone like you, whose knowledge is practically everyone who needs it.

I have been trying to use, support, and promote BeBlurt for the past several months. I was one of the very first users to log in and try it! But it has not worked for me - I get a "unknown user" error. I have reported this several times, and recently the BeBlurt people said they are trying to solve the problem. Hopefully I can start to use BeBlurt soon. I think the platform could benefit from well-known users becoming involved.

Just a small correction: CoinGecko also tracks the price of BBLURT (BLURT on BSC) on PancakeSwap.

It took me a while to figure out where to look, as I was focusing on the Markets tab of BLURT token and couldn't find anything.

image

I finally realized that you need to search for the BBLURT token on CoinGecko to see its price on GeckoTerminal 🤣 How do you do BLURT => BBLURT or BBLURT => BLURT? How I can track it to add it to the user dashboard?
