Today is Wednesday, and Wednesday means the day of the biggest market in our area, most people in this area look forward to Wednesday, on Wednesday everyone really gets busy going to the market, on this day everyone is busy going to the market from the morning, both buyers and sellers are ready to go to the market on Wednesday.
It is worth noting that the biggest market is held in our area every Wednesday, people come from far and wide to buy and sell at this market, this market is held in our neighboring village Ratankandi, because this market is in Ratankandi village, the market is named "Ratankandi Market", and many people also know this market as Wednesday Market, because this market is held every Wednesday.
We have been visiting this traditional Ratankandi market since childhood. When we were young, we used to go to the market holding our father's hand. When we were young, our father would buy us delicious jalapeños from the market. We used to eat them with great fun. When we were young, we would see everyone going to the market in groups since morning.
At that time, there was a road leading to the market in front of our house. Sometimes, my father wouldn't take us to the market because there were so many people there. We were afraid of getting lost because we were small. On days when we couldn't go to the market, we would sit on the balcony of our house and watch people going to the market. We would think to ourselves that when we grow up, we would go to the market alone like everyone else.
All kinds of things are available in this traditional Wednesday market, one of the features of this market is that one kind of thing is available in one place, that is, there is a designated place for each thing, such as the fish market in one place, the cattle market in one place, the poultry market in one place, the market for various vegetables including potatoes and brinjal in one place, the market for various types of clothes in one place. All things are available in a designated place.
This market in Ratankandi is famous for cattle and goats, people from far and wide come to this market to buy and sell cattle and goats, every Wednesday, numerous cattle and goats are sold in this market, where cattle and goats are sold, there are more thieves, for this reason everyone buys and sells carefully.
Today, as soon as I entered the market, I saw beautiful hand fans. It was very nice to see colorful hand fans. Nowadays, the price of these hand fans has decreased a lot, but at one time, this hand fan was the only one used to relieve heat, especially when there was no electricity in rural areas.
A few hawkers sit on one side of the market, one of them is very famous, he has the most people there, because people are entertained there in various ways. In addition to entertaining, the hawkers sell their medicines, many people enjoy them while walking.
Every Wednesday, many different types of fish from the Yamuna River are available in this market, today, along with many small and large fish from the Yamuna River,A Hilsa fish was seen, usually Hilsa fish is very rare in this market, because Hilsa fish is not found in the Jamuna River, Hilsa is our national fish, the price of Hilsa fish is very high in our country.
You will see many sweet shops in this market, among them the traditional sweet is Jalapi, you will find many hot dishes in this market, especially Piyaju, Gulguli, these are the names of our regional dishes. A large number of ducks, chickens and pigeons are available in this market. Different types of nets are available for fishing, all types of agricultural equipment are available for farmers. Different types of wooden furniture are available.
Currently, paddy cultivation has started in the land, for this reason all types of paddy seedlings are available in this market, due to rain, water has accumulated on one side of the market, no one can sit anywhere, if there was no water, the people of the market would also sit in that place.
There is a committee to manage this market, who charge a fixed rent from the shopkeepers, which is called Khajna in our regional language, once people used to go to the market on foot, but now various vehicles are available to go to the market
Today I visited the entire market and collected pictures from different parts of the market, there were many more pictures which I am not sharing with you anymore, I cannot finish writing about this traditional market, so I am ending it here.
