Aratilis (Muntingia Calabura) is wild berry that's commonly found in gardens, villages, roadsides and some other places. The fruit is red, sweet, and plump. This attracts birds, bats, etcetera. In my childhood memory, I used to climb an aratilis tree to get some ripe fruits and ate it while my grandma was washing our dirty clothes. This was one of my favorite to eat when I was young and whenever I pass by the tree whenever we go to the farm or when going to school I always look up at the branches of it to see of there were many ripe fruits. If I saw that there are lots of it, I would excitedly grabbed the branches that were within my reach and ate it happily. It was very delicious that's why I really love eating it. But don't you know that these plants has different medicinal use? I never knew that it' has medicinal use not until last year. Many people said that it has many medicinal benefits and is considered to be of great medicinal value. Though many had already testify it effectiveness I'm still reluctant to use it but some situations had pushed me to try it and all I could say is that it's really very effective.
Aratilis leaves
It has said that Aratilis leaves is very good in treating a person who experience diarrhea and those who had high blood sugar count on it's body. We happened to have a neighbor who seems like a big brother in our community. He was a security guard in our place and just last year he was diagnosed with having a high blood sugar count and someone told him to use the Aratilis leaves to cure it. Since we were the only one who had planted such tree so he asked my husband to get some leaves so he could boiled and drink it. Every morning it was his routine to went to our house to pick young leaves of it and brought it at home to boil. He was drinking it for two months or more than that but not exceeds to three months. Right now he is happy that he his blood sugar is back to normal and is conscious on what to consume. With it comes to diarrhea, I myself could testify it's effectiveness. I tried boiling its leaves and let my son drink it when he was having a diarrhea. After some hours after drinking it his poop was back to normal.
Aratilis bark
Recently I've seen a video of a woman who is living in a mountain. Living in that place where hospitals and pharmacies are far from reach most people depend on herbal medicines to treat some illnesses or sicknesses. In the video she shared the health benefits of some parts of the Aratilis tree such as the leaves, roots and it's skin. When she talked about the boiling the skin of the Aratilis to treat cough, runny nose, fever or flu it made me very grateful and happy because at the time of watching it my husband was feeling sick. He was having a slight fever, cough and runny nose so after watching the video I immediately went outside to get its bark to boil and use it for my husband. How does the process of treating those said sickness? Boil the aratilis bark. Then transfer it to a bowl or a container while it's hot and let him or her inhale the steam. In our part since my husband had a slight fever I covered his whole body with a blanket while he was squatting and the container with the boiled artilis bark was inside the covered blanket. He was covered with a blanket and inhaled the steam for about two minutes after I removed it. After few minutes he was sweating a lot and his nose wasn't congested anymore. It was really effective. Same goes with my son who has fever last three days ago. When I touched his forehead and its neck I noticed that his temperature is above normal so I immediately let him take a medicine and rest. I also put a wet towel on its forehead to lower his temperature. Few hours after taking the medicine for fever his temperature is back to normal but then it came back at night. So I again let him take a medicine. The result was still the same and the fever would still go back after some hours so I decided to try boiling the aratilis skin and let him inhale its steam. Thankfully after inhaling it the fever was gone and now he is back to be an active kid again. I felt very relieve that he's now okay.
Aratilis fruit
Aratilis fruit isn't just delicious to eat but it also had many health benefits. It is said that it's good to eat when having an headache or abdominal cramps. Lately I was experiencing headaches and since there are lots of ripe fruits of the Aratilis I pick and ate it. Seems it was effective because pain subsided eventually even without taking a paracetamol for my headache. For the abdominal cramps? I haven't tried it yet.
Todavía no lo he probado.
There are still many uses and benefits of using the Aratilis trees as I've read on some blogs online but here in this blog I only shared the parts that are based on my experience and how effective are those.
Have you tried using this tree in treating sickness and illness?

My house also has this kind of tree. They call it the "Luk Kop" tree. It tastes a little sweet.
When I was a kid, I liked to eat it too.

We're the same. I really like eating it when I was kid. Thanks for the wonderful comment @sunisa!
