- A beautiful day
- March,28-03-2025,
Assalamu Alaikum, today I am here with a flower photography post. I brought this flower plant from my grandmother's house. My cousin bought it from a flower nursery. Later, he planted this plant. I liked the flowers of the plant very much, so I brought its seedlings and planted them in our house. I brought this plant two years ago. Now this plant gives a lot of flowers. This flower is seen blooming in this season. Which is commonly known as butterfly weed, a species of milkweed native to eastern and southwestern North America.
It is commonly known as butterfly weed because butterflies are attracted to the plant due to its color and the abundant production of nectar. It has wide orange, yellow or red flower umbrellas. Each has five petals and five sepals. It is not certain whether the reddish flowers are due to soil mineral content, ecotype genetic differences, or both. A cultivar called 'Hello Yellow' usually bears more yellow flowers than the common example of this plant. The fruit pods are 7.5–15 cm (3–6 in) long, containing many long hairy seeds.
It is usually found in dry fields. Butterfly weed is often grown in gardens for its bright orange flowers, which are particularly attractive to bees. It is easy to grow from seed and difficult to transplant due to the size of its roots. Plants grown from seed take about two to three years to reach flowering size on average. The seeds do not require stratification and can be planted immediately, although in commercial cultivation they are usually moist stratified at 5 °C for 30–60 days as this increases the germination rate.
For other milkweeds, a thin layer of mulch, 1–2 cm thick, increases the germination rate, although specific research on butterfly weed is lacking.
Butterfly weed has very few serious insect or disease problems. It is susceptible to crown rot if it is poorly drained or planted in a very humid location. I end today's post here. May everyone be well and healthy. May Allah protect
