It already smells like Christmas! Around my house there are several natural pine trees, and in this season, their branches emanate a delicious aroma that permeates the air. It is nice to have a natural pine tree at home for Christmas. However, I am in favor of having an artificial tree to respect nature. But fear not, I don't judge those who do it.
To give my home a natural pine scent, I buy wreaths made with branches that fall from the pine trees. Believe it or not, these few branches bring that typical Christmas scent to my house.
A solution to this dilemma between natural or artificial trees for Christmas came from my neighbor. She plants the dried pine cones in pots and lets them grow in her garden. After two years, she has a small pine tree of five feet. Then with good care, she transplants this sapling into a larger pot, and it is the tree that adorns her living room. I thought this was fantastic!
When these young trees are almost two years old at this time, cones begin to emerge from the buds of some of their branches. This particular species of pine (Platycladus orientalis) does not throw the typical pine cones. Its cones are oval with some tips and beautiful colors. These young cones are a bluish-gray color that gives the pine the appearance that between its branches there are traces of snow.
The process of formation of these cones is curious. Luckily, thanks to the camera of my phone, I can take shots where I can show you a beautiful sequence.
Some of the branches of the pine are thickening and turning a pinkish color, and from their ends emerge a kind of thick blue-gray stars. These will be the future cones.
When these cones mature, they take an oval shape, and it is the moment when the pine begins to emanate its essential oils intensely into the environment. I confess that this aroma brings me happiness. I think that after this story, you already know it. 🤗🤗🤗

I love the smell of pine! Too bad I can't have a real tree this year, but we'll probably bring in some pine sprigs.
I wish you can enjoy the pine scent even through those branches.
