Today I continue with the review I started a few days ago dedicated to Paint.NET.
Few image editors are as popular among Windows users as Paint.net, it has always been an excellent option for editing photos in those cases where we need something not as simple as Paint nor as expensive and advanced as Photoshop.
In my case, without being a graphics expert by any means, it works very, very well.
Paint.net is free and easy to use, and its most recent update is one of the most important of the year, not only because of the great improvements in performance and memory usage, but also because of the addition of support for the AV1 format.

Pocos editores de imágenes son tan populares entre los usuarios de Windows como Paint.net, siempre ha sido una excelente opción para la edición de fotos en aquellos casos en los que necesitamos algo no tan simple como Paint ni tan caro y avanzado como Photoshop.
En mi caso, sin ser un experto de gráfica ni micho menos va muy, pero muy bien.
Paint.net es gratuito y fácil de usar, y su más reciente actualización viene a ser una de las más importantes del año, no solo por las grandes mejores de rendimiento y uso de memoria, sino por la adición de soporte para el formato AV1.

Paint.NET runs on Microsoft .NET , which is included as part of the app. It does not need to be installed separately.
Paint.NET uses your hard disk to store temporary files related to your editing history. The actual disk space requirements will depend on the type of actions you perform and the size of the image.

For HDR and WCG displays, Paint.NET will be able to use the full color gamut of the display and Windows will manage color accuracy and consistency. Images will not be locked to the sRGB color gamut.
For SDR displays, or when hardware acceleration is disabled, Paint.NET will run in sRGB mode. This means that images will be locked to the sRGB color gamut. This ensures color reproduction, but color accuracy also depends on whether the display itself is configured for sRGB.
Intel/AMD CPUs without AVX2 will work but will be slower. Our testing and optimization efforts no longer include Intel/AMD CPUs without AVX2.
An HDD (instead of an SSD) will work but will have slow performance and is not supported. Our testing and optimization efforts no longer include HDDs.
GPUs that do not support Direct3D 11 cannot be used, relegating such tasks to the CPU. Performance will be slower and some effects may take a long time to render.

Installing Paint.NET / Instalación de Paint.NET

Paint.NET installation is automated when you purchase from the Windows Store. The installation instructions below apply only to Paint.NET Classic that was downloaded manually from the Paint.NET website.
Tip
It is highly recommended that you install all the latest system updates before installing Paint.NET. To check for and install system updates, use the Windows Update tool by typing "Windows Update" in the Start menu search box.
Paint.NET is designed to be very easy to install.
After downloading the installation package from the Paint.NET website https://getpaint.net/download.html , open the compressed folder by double-clicking on the icon.

In the window that opens, double-click the Paint.NET.version.install.exe file to start the installation.

There are two installation options available: Express and Custom .
For most users, the "Express" installation with default options should be sufficient. If you want a customized installation (perhaps changing the default installation directory), choose the "Custom" option.
Before exiting this dialog, select your preferred language option from the drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog. Click Next to proceed.

If you previously selected a custom installation, the application will ask you to choose some installation options and an installation directory:
