One of my favourite things to do is to walk around at night.
There’s much randomness to be discovered when you venture into the dark, the streets seem a little more magical and sometimes I stumble upon things and people that I might never notice in the hustle and bustle of the day.
When I saw this it really jumped out at me. Just a random pair of legs I thought, not quite sure why I was so drawn to them. I noticed the detached foot, it seemed significant, I wasn’t sure why.
And then a few steps on...
And suddenly it all made sense.
The other thing is, in the night there’s rarely anyone around to see you creased over in hysterical laughter which means much less chance of people walking past wondering what the nutty lady is making such a fuss about.
Also. Night people are different somehow. I often end up in conversation with random people and it’s always interesting and they always feel like my people.
It’s funny, just the other day I had a repeat encounter with someone I met previously at night some months ago. I never expect to see these people again, so used to the pattern of my life which seems to be having one significant conversation/meeting and then they disappear from my universe, leaving just fading memories to hold onto.
Having more stuff to do during the day has meant I haven’t done so much wandering in the night lately but I’m definitely going to make time for it as I do miss it. It’s actually a great way to catch the sunrise, if you can stay up that long.
What do you notice at night?
