5 Fundamental Truths To Live By: Positive Reflections
These fundamental truths can help you live a happier and more fulfilled life, no matter your age.
1 Let Go Of Yesterday's Regrets, Accept Tomorrow's Uncertainties, And Be Fully Present Today
This fundamental truth can assist us in truly appreciating the present and savoring these fleeting moments.
We can't change the past; all we can do now is apply the lessons we've learned from our mistakes. We can only act in the present if we want to change our future. So, despite our hectic schedules, take a moment today to smell the roses.
2 It's not so much what happens to us as it is how we respond.
We have no control over the events and things that occur in our lives. We have no control over what life throws at us. However, we have complete control over how we respond to these events. We can turn what is essentially a negative event into a blessing if we are able to respond positively.
Every cloud, as the saying goes, has a silver lining.
3 We Do Not Need To Know Everything
I wish I had realized this fundamental truth earlier in my life. We are in unfamiliar territory when we leave our comfort zone. We often believe that we must have all of the answers before starting something new. And, because we don't know the answers, our fear of the unknown has kept us from acting. We must be clear about our destination on our life's journey. However, don't expect the path to be well-marked for us.
If we instead focus on the opportunity, the challenges seem to fade away, and we become more confident in our ability to overcome them.
4 Concentrate on the opportunity rather than the difficulties.
We must be able to capitalize on opportunities that come our way in order to be successful. The issue arises when we focus on the challenges rather than the opportunities. If we concentrate on the difficulties, they may appear insurmountable, almost impossible to overcome, and the opportunity may appear diminished and unworthy of our time and effort. If we instead focus on the opportunity, the challenges seem to fade away, and we become more confident in our ability to overcome them.
5 Accepting And Loving Ourselves
This is one truth that we often overlook because we are preoccupied with impressing others with our success, status, and material possessions. In the age of social media, we can even become frustrated when our posts do not receive enough likes or comments. We didn't realize that the only person who can validate who we are, our self-worth, and self-esteem is ourselves. Our self-worth and self-esteem will be high if we are able to love and accept ourselves for who we truly are, warts and all, while remaining humble and not allowing our ego to get in the way.
Comparing ourselves to others is also counterproductive. Instead of comparing, why not show a little kindness? We all have our own journeys, our own crosses to bear.
