"The perspective of law enforcement, apart from law enforcement, there are two sides, perpetrators and victims. So when it comes to the rights of perpetrators, now what about the human rights of victims? Victims of corruption are all Indonesian people, who were injured because of treason, betrayal from where? From corruption Because he betrayed the trust. His mandate is an oath of office from our officials to improve the welfare of the people and also not to steal state money," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman to reporters, Saturday (10/9/2022).

Boyamin also asked the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) to take into account the human rights of the victims. He again reminded that corruption is an extraordinary crime.

"From the oath of office, the law is enforced, the law cannot be corrupted. So the government, in this case the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, must also consider the human rights of the victim," he said.

Boyamin admitted that he was disappointed with the too many remissions given to corruptors. This, he said, seemed futile because the implementation of the law was not handled specifically or properly.

"But suddenly then the execution of the sentence becomes not extraordinary, meaning that it becomes normal when you get remission, parole, get other reductions, assimilation for example, it's the same as pickpocketing, stealing from the market or snatching or just molesting, now. This means that we will immediately fall short on the implementation of the decision," he said.

The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen Pas) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights previously also explained the reasons 23 corrupt convicts were granted parole. The Directorate General of Pas stated that the 23 inmates had complied with the provisions.

"This parole is one of the conditional rights granted to all prisoners without exception and non-discrimination, of course, those who have met the administrative and substantive requirements," said the Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Past Rika Aprianti to reporters, Wednesday (7/9).

Rika said the 23 corrupt convicts had met the requirements, both administrative and substantive. These requirements are in accordance with Article 10 of Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections.
