Five hours is nothing ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿฃ๐ŸŽŽ My Japan

Only recently did I realize again that my sense of time had become unbalanced. It was Monday and the new week had just begun. I was actually looking forward to this Monday and had made a lot of plans for the coming days.

I wanted to start by taking the little one to kindergarten and then picking her up again later. Dropping her off isn't usually my job, but on that Monday I just didn't want to miss out. The kindergarten usually starts at around 9 a.m., at a time when I'm actually getting ready for work. But this day was a little different and I took the opportunity to add a little change to my routine.

Afterwards, I had a dentist appointment and when I got back from that, it was suddenly already time to drive back to the kindergarten and pick up the little one. Pick-up always takes place at around 2 p.m., so the whole kindergarten experience actually only lasts five hours. That may be a long time for the kids, but on that day it seemed extremely short to me.

When I got ready to go to kindergarten for the second time, it felt like I had only returned from there an hour ago. And now it was supposed to be five hours later and I wondered where Monday morning had gone. And I seemed to have somehow blanked out my visit to the dentist, even though there was no reason to.

As I said, according to the clock, five hours had passed, but my gut feeling made me doubt this reality. My gut just didn't want to believe it, even though during that time I was actually able to get a few things done.

I am not sure how to handle this odd and kinda unpleasant feeling and what to do in those situations. It felt I kinda missed five hours, but if I look back I can clearly see what I did in that time. And yes, it's no longer a secret to me that the days go by faster and faster as I get older. As I am no longer one of the youngsters and have now moved into a completely different league in terms of age, I have long since realized that not only the days, but also the weeks, months and years go by far too quickly. As soon as the new year begins, I am already wondering why it's March again and spring has started. And before I know it, summer is already over and I start preparing for the next winter. And the upcoming Christmas planning finally makes it clear to the last of us that another year has hurried far too much again.

I would love for most moments to last longer and for myself to be aware of the moments I should pay more attention too. It is not always an easy thing, but life needs us to really focus on it. And that is what I should work on, so from time to time, I better pause for a while and listen to what happens around me. Maybe I can join in into the fun and be able to enjoy that very much. If we succeed in that, we will have already won quite a lot....
